Meet Tony Aukland

As a 30-year member of this community, I have dedicated my career to supporting North Dakota local families, citizens, agencies, universities, and empowering students. I am running for the Bismarck Public School Board to champion our community's future—ensuring our students, faculty, administration, and staff have another member of the community to support them. My journey began in the classroom as a math and computer science teacher. Today, I serve as the Technology Outreach and Education Manager for North Dakota IT (NDIT), where I lead statewide initiatives in technology, cybersecurity, AI, and digital literacy. Each year, I deliver roughly 40 - 60 presentations focused on online safety, AI, and digital productivity, helping our citizens navigate a complex technological world. Beyond my role at NDIT, I adjunct at Bismarck State College and the University of Mary. I received degrees in Math Education, Computer Science, and Coaching from Valley City State University. A couple years ago my wife, Donna, and I received our MBAs together from the University of Mary. I also have certifications in IT, Cybersecurity, and Leadership. I bring a unique blend of academic and practical leadership to the table. I am an active, engaged, volunteering parent who supports the Bismarck Pubilc School System.

My dedication to Bismarck Public Schools is more than professional—it’s personal. For nearly two decades, I have actively volunteered within our schools, including serving as:

• President, Simle Middle School Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)
• Active Member, Legacy High School PAC
• Legacy Football and Band Boosters
• Volunteer for youth dance, gymnastics, and After Prom events
• School Dance Chaperone

In the community, I have served as a Cubmaster for Pioneer Pack 4001, Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 1073, Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor, Bismarck Hockey Boosters, and BYFL.

My children's BPS journey began at Myhre Elementary and continued through Pioneer Elementary, Simle Middle, and Century High School. I volunteered in all of their schools and activities. My daughters graduated from Century High School. Today, my son is a student at Legacy High School, while my wife and her family graduated from Bismarck High School.

My hobbies include motorcycles, fishing, hunting, hiking, martial arts, and I am an avid reader. I also spend a lot of time with my black lab, Bailey.
